Confidentiality and privacy

ACN requires that you should be aware of your health facility’s policy relating to confidentiality. Please note the Health Records and Information (HRIP) Act 2002, effective from September 2004, limits the use of health information to the purpose for which it was collected.

When accessing a patient’s clinical records either on clinical placement or for the purpose of an assessment item, you are reminded to gain consent, or in the case of minors, gain consent from a parent or guardian. All health information must remain confidential. Maintaining confidentiality is a requirement for successful completion of your course of study.
